In the aftermath of Tropical Storm, Bret, the Bank attempted to contact its 1,719 clients to determine whether they were affected and to ascertain the assistance and/or relief that could be provided by the ADB. All of the clientele were contacted with 280 clients confirming that they were negatively impacted by the weather conditions.
The most affected projects were located in central Trinidad while the second most affected area was the southern region. Reports however indicated that clients located in the other geographical areas including Tobago were also affected.
In an effort to lend support, the Bank will explore measures such as rescheduling, restructuring and skipped payments to provide relief to its clients. The first two (2) options may allow for a moratorium period based on discussions with the client and a review of the project status for rehabilitation.
The aforementioned initiatives undertaken by the Bank in response to the negative impact of Tropical Storm Bret are geared to provide relief to those affected in the shortest possible time while ensuring that the Bank discharges its mandate of developing the sector and by extension Trinidad and Tobago.
